Oblivion has more gameplay overhauls to choose from. The big different between OB and MW is that for MW there's a TON of graphics overhauls to choose from, and the Morrowind Overhaul does a great job of compiling all the most lore-friendly graphics replacers for those who want to stick close to the lore. versions of QTP3, and QTP3 iteself is a MASSIVE download. The big problem though is some people prefer QTP3 while other people prefer Vibrant Textures (me) and then there's the redimized, reduced, etc. I remember the old Oblivion overhaul that was released a year or so ago but its really outdated. It would make reinstalling the game so much easier and I wouldn't have to have 100 files lying around on my external drive that I'd have to reinstall. I would love if someone were to do this for Oblivion. Look at how many mods from the original release of the Overhaul are being updated.

Just look at the release notes for patch 1.1 and what's to be included in patch 1.2. The team behind the project though is doing a great job keepin git up to date. Not quite as much activity as with Oblivion but mods are still being updated and new retexture mods released. Just check the Morrowind mods forum, planetelderscrolls and tesnexus. That's not true about nobody making Morrowind mods anymore. I think that the Overhaul made for morrowind is something fantastic and everyone uses it not only because of its quality but you have to know that no1 is making morrowind mods or updating them anymore(at least, from what I know). If you want to play a "graphically/technically" modern Oblivion, you have to see the reccomended lists and search on tesnexus/planetelderscrolls you won't be disappointed. How many times have we all seen popular choices made instead of the right (or best) ones? They are very rarely the same thing.
:stare:Īs for popularity, I couldn't care less. I don't know why anyone would rather use a bug-riddled product over an improved version if there were no regressions, which there rarely are. It's not about preference - you should always, always use the latest version of a piece of (free, to avoid arguments over cost and worth) software unless it absolutely breaks something because mods are updated for good reason, mostly to fix bugs. I don't think it's a discussion we need to have again.Īs for 'prefer the latest version of every mod', that just rubs me the wrong way. The reasons against far outweigh the positives, at least among this forum's members, and have been stated ad infinitum already.

Īctually, it looks like the developer of the Morrowind Compilation Mod may do something similar for Oblivion: I think its a win-win scenario for everyone, - just consider the popularity of. Those who want to customize their installs, and prefer the latest version of every mod right away can still do so.
OBLIVION GRAPHICS OVERHAUL INSTALL UPDATE
The key point here is about providing more options to people - what is so bad about them having the option of downloading a compilation mod? Some suggest it may become outdated etc - but that could be remedied rather easily with an update every 6 months. There are many like myself who find the installation process rather difficult.
It's pretty much inevitable something will go wrong at some point and when it does you'll have no idea where to begin troubleshooting it. You're always better off installing things one at a time. I might just cut my losses and try out one of the other mods.Indeed, it's not a good idea to get compilation mods that draw from disparate sources and are not kept up-to-date. So sorry if i come off a bit crass just getting annoyed cuz I was looking forward to playing with that mod for a few hours here, but i feel incompetent. ini by making a text and renaming it, but the computer was smarter :P Such as, making sure GoG, Oblivion and all related files are running as admin, Messed around with the order a bit, but it seems the few mods i got don't really matter where they are. (like it reads the unofficial oblivion patch to.) For giggles i even put a copy of the blockhead.dll in each folder, i know, excessive, yet sometimes it seems necessary to make sure i just didn't put it in the wrong spot.Īny issues i look up, deal with the steam version of the game.

dll files and it reads those to the best of my poor observation skills.
OBLIVION GRAPHICS OVERHAUL INSTALL INSTALL
I have Oblivion Character Overhaul Version 2 in, yet i still have the INSTALL BLOCKHEAD error on the heads. I'm putting in mods, and I can tell that as long as i drop them in the Data file, it will pick it up. So, with some slight pessimism, anyone else willing to throw spaghetti against a wall and see if it works? or has a better face mod to use? TL DR It reads everything but the blockhead.dll and I've spent a good 3 hours trying to get it to work and looking for answers.
